Flowcrete Americas, a manufacturer of seamless resin flooring materials, has opened a new 30,000 square foot manufacturing plant in Spring, Texas, that will allow the company to more than double its production capacity to more than 20 million pounds per year. Flowcrete celebrated the grand opening with a lunch event and plant tour for customers. Mark Greaves, Flowcrete Group president, applauded the team for successfully migrating the companys operations to its new home with minimal disruption to trade and hailed the opening of the new facility as a landmark occasion in the companys history, propelling future growth and taking the companys stateside operations to the next level. Despite an improving job market and low interest rates, the share of first-time buyers fell to its lowest point in nearly three decades and is preventing a healthier housing market from reaching its full potential, according to an annual survey released by the National Association of Realtors(NAR). The 2014 National Association of Realtors Profile of Home Buyers and Sellers continues a long-running series of large national NAR surveys evaluating the demographics, preferences, motivations, plans and experiences of recent home buyers and sellers; the series dates back to 1981. Results are representative of owner-occupants and do not include investors or vacation homes. The long-term average in this survey, dating back to 1981, shows that four out of 10 purchases are from first-time home buyers. In this years survey, the share of first-time buyers dropped five percentage points from a year ago to 33%, representing the lowest share since 1987 (30%). Q.E.P., the corporate arm of brands including QEP, announced it has completed the acquisition of Flooring Trade Supplies (FTS), an accessory distributor in Sydney, New South Wales, Australia. FTS operations will merge with Q.E.P.s existing Australian Flooring Supplies (AFS) accessory distribution business. FTS business includes the distribution of the Holdfast range of adhesives. James Woelfel, vice president of Artcraft Granite, Marble and Tile of Mesa, Ariz., has been elected president by the National Tile Contractors Associations (NTCA) membership. Woelfel will serve a two-year term which will run until November 2016. He succeeds outgoing president Dan Welch, president of Welch Tile Marble in Michigan, who becomes chairman of the board for the NTCA. Woelfel stated, I am honored to become the next president of the NTCA. It is humbling for me to become the first son of a former president of our associations history. My father, Butch Woelfel, served in this capacity from 1985-1987. In my tenure, I hope to raise the awareness of our association to even stronger international recognition, as we continue to play a leading role in the development of installation standards for tile and stone installations. Dependable has launched a new line of flooring underlayments to complement its existing line of floor preparation products. The underlayment consists of sound deadening and crack isolation products as well as floor reinforcement. Two uncoupling mats are available in KeedeRoll 100 (an entangled net uncoupling mat) and KeedeRoll 300 (a waterproof uncoupling mat).
