Mirage has formed a new distribution partnership with All Tile in the Midwest region. Effective Feb. 13, All Tiles single source trading area for Mirage flooring will be expanded to include Arkansas, Illinois, Iowa, Kansas, Missouri, Nebraska and Oklahoma. Between now and then, Mirage will be available from both All Tile and Lockwood Flooring in those states. All Tile has been a Mirage distributor since 2007, servicing Northern Illinois, Eastern Wisconsin and Michigan. The firm provides premier products to both the floor covering and woodworking industries. The upgraded D6528 Mixer/Pump from Blastcrete Equipment Co. gives gypsum flooring contractors a versatile and easy-to-use mixer/pump with high capacity and low maintenance, according to the company. Contractors can use the D6528 Mixer/Pump to install gypsum underlayments for sound and fire proofing floors, as well as up to -inch aggregate concrete mixes for breezeways and patios. Members of the Floor Installation Association of North America (FIANA), which just celebrated its 20th anniversary, have voted to dissolve the association no later than the end of this year. In its decision, the group cited accomplishment of its primary mission to legitimize, enhance and improve the overall image and professionalism of the floor covering installation segment as distributors and manufacturers of installation supplies products. This is a very appropriate move at the right time, stated Doug Ray, FIANA president and CEO. Our board has made a courageous recommendation and membership overwhelmingly concurs. Much has changed in these past 20 years. According to show officials, it will require four dedicated halls to house just the wood and laminate exhibitions at Domotex asia/ChinaFloors (DACF) 17th annual flooring show March 24 to 26 in Shanghai. The current number of international brands booked for this specific product category has already reached the final 2014 brands registration number five months before the next show opening. The international wood flooring brands increased by 50% compared to the same period last year. For the whole wood and laminate flooring sector, including international and domestic exhibitors, DACF organizers have already received a record of booths booking which forecasts an increase of companies participation in this particular section. A proposed new ASTM International standard, ASTM WK47030, would help professionals evaluate concrete floor systems to receive resilient flooring. The World Floor Covering Association (WFCA) and the Floor Covering Installation Contractors Association (FCICA) have endorsed the concept of concrete dryness testing and slab evaluation, as performed by third party agencies. Once ASTM WK47030 has been approved, it can be specified in construction documents or contracts as a way to require such third party testing. According to the organization, ASTM WK47030 will cover the evaluation of a concrete slab system that is intended to be covered with resilient flooring. It features a review of concrete floor slab design and construction documents to ensure compatibility with specified floor covering and adhesive manufacturers requirements.
