Halex Corp. has launched its informative video series focused on flooring installation. The sequence of brief but useful one-minute videos, launched on Halex websites, is a resource for all flooring installers as well as DIY homeowners. The videos also encourage viewers to ask Halexs industry professionals questions and have them answered in later videos. According to the company, new videos will be released weekly, starting with Floored by VersaShield: An Introduction, which is about moisture in concrete slabs. The Floored by VersaShield series will cover topics from moisture testing and slab preparation to moisture remediation alternatives and planned flooring removal. Shaw Industries associates raised over $23,500 for St. Jude Childrens Research Hospital at the St. Jude Memphis Marathon. A team of 29 associates from Shaw Industries raised over $23,500 for St. Jude Childrens Research Hospital through the St. Jude Memphis Marathon. The Shaw team raised money from their friends, family, coworkers and Shaw customers to support St. Judes work. Shaws heart beats for St. Jude on a daily basis, said Kathy Young, vice president of residential marketing at Shaw. Armstrong to Exit European Flooring Business, Cease Funding of DLW Subsidiary

Armstrong World Industries has decided to exit its European flooring business and cease further funding of its DLW subsidiary effective immediately. As a result of this decision, local DLW management filed for insolvency in Germany. Our difficult, but necessary, decision to exit the European flooring business and discontinue funding our DLW subsidiary in Germany was the culmination of a comprehensive evaluation of strategic alternatives following years of disappointing results, multiple restructuring initiatives and significant financial investments, said Matthew Espe, Armstrong CEO. DLW management concluded that its operations could not be financed and sustained without funding from its Armstrong parent and, as a result, filed for insolvency under applicable German law. Armstrong expects all operations at the two DLW manufacturing plants in Germany, as well as at the DLW administrative offices across Europe, to continue in the normal course for the near term. The Marble Institute of America (MIA) membership elected Joshua Levinson and Bernard Van Etten III to serve five-year terms (2015-19) on its board. Joshua Levinson, president of Artistic Tile, Secaucus, N.J., will represent the Mid-Atlantic zone of Washington D.C., Delaware, Maryland, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Virginia and West Virginia. He has been with Artistic Tile for 18 years. Levinson is a past chair of the MIA education committee and continues to serve on the committee, as well as the joint committee on dimension stone that created the new NSC 373 Sustainability Standard. He is also a charter member and co-chair of the MIA NY Metro Chapter. Additionally, he is currently a member of the MIA technical committee, NTCA technical committee, TCNA handbook committee and the MIA representative on the NSC board. The Flooring Contractors Association (FCICA) will offer six tours to give attendees a taste of San Diego during the organizations 2015 convention, March 1 to 4. Convention 2015Riding the Wave of Success will be hosted at San Diegos Kona Kai Resort and Marina. The four-day event will feature five educational sessions, a tabletop show, industry networking opportunities, a reception and dinner at Marine Corps Air Station Miramar, silent auction, plus optional tours for attendees. Each FCICA tour will offer a taste of San Diego from golfing on a PGA Tour golf course to setting sail on an Americas Cup replica vessel. Attendees will have the opportunity prior to the start of the convention on Saturday, Feb. 28 to golf at Torrey Pines South, the nations foremost municipal golf course situated atop cliffs towering above the Pacific Ocean.
